Gov. Beshear issues strong-throated recommendation that people stop getting COVID
Attorney General Daniel Cameron threatens swift legal action in response
The days of waggin’ his finger and telling Kentuckians “you can’t be doing that” are in the past for Gov. Andy Beshear who is now more amped up than ever to get the coronavirus under manageable levels in the Bluegrass State.
Today, Beshear delivered his most direct, dire, pivotal and crucial message yet of the pandemic.
“I’d like to take this time and make the recommendation that folks living in these counties outlined in red simply cease contracting coronavirus,” Beshear said, both hands grasping the sides of his podium and sweat gathering above his brow. “I’d also like to firmly recommend that people stop dying from COVID-19, being hospitalized with the virus, being placed on a ventilator and all that. Please, stop it.”
As the positivity rate in the state climbs above 8% the outlook is grim in Kentucky, even more than it was at the onset of the pandemic.
Feeling mounting pressure, Beshear, again, recommended people stop contracting and spreading coronavirus; perhaps, he again recommended, people take steps to mitigate the spread of the virus instead of doing the exact opposite as they have been.
In response, Attorney General Daniel Cameron promised he would file a lawsuit by the day’s end against Beshear’s recommendations for people to stop getting coronavirus.
“It’s the God-given right of all Kentuckians to catch, spread and, in instances, perish from the coronavirus,” Cameron told reporters. “I’ll be fighting this tooth and nail in the name of advancing my own career and protecting capital gains.”
